Is my bike covered for theft away from home?
Yes. Unlike most home & contents insurance, your bicycle is covered against theft both from home and away from
home.
Can I store my bike in a garage?
When storing your bicycle at home it is vital that you meet the policy security requirements, otherwise your claim may not be accepted.
We have summarised these requirements in the Security Conditions section of the policy wording. Please have a
read through this section to ensure you understand the minimum security requirements of the policy.
If your bike is stolen from your home, we'll need evidence of forced or violent entry when you make a claim.
If your bicycle is left anywhere else on your property, for instance, in an open garage or garden shed, it must be secured to an immovable object with an approved lock.
How should I lock up my bicycle?
You should lock your bicycle securely through the frame and quick release wheels, and then to an immovable
object using one of our approved locks.
A combination of a D-lock and a keyed, armour-padded cable is particularly effective.
How do I know if I have an approved lock?
Approved locks vary depending on the insured value of the bike:
Bikes worth less than £1,000 - Sold Secure, Silver rated lock.
Bikes worth £1,000 or more - Sold Secure, Gold rated lock.
What is a Sold Secure lock?
Please read our article on approved locks for information about the Sold Secure lock ratings system.
